It’s that time of the year again! I’m continuing the tradition of sharing fun facts with you all in honor of my birthday (see 31 and 32). They say, “Good things come in threes,” and I’m hoping that this will be the case as I ring in year 33. The number 3 can symbolize communication, creativity, curiosity, and optimism, so I’m hoping that this big, double-3 year will be the best one yet. I hope that you enjoy these fun (and random) facts, and learn something new about me!
- I’m a big fan of espresso martinis. If I see one on a menu, and it’s not too late (I’ve made this mistake before), I’m ordering.
- When Patrick and I got married on the beach, we had dolphins swimming in front of us for the ceremony. It was truly a magical moment.
- I have 5 ear piercings and I’m planning on getting more (sorry, Mom).
- My party trick is sabering a bottle of Champagne.
- I will put off updating electronics until my husband calls me out. I hate having to reset items and transfer everything, even though it’s not that hard..
- I’m good about cleaning out my closet. I go through everything at least a few times a year, but I’m bad about inevitably filling my closet again.
- I’m all about an electric bike. We got ours this year, and they have been so fun to ride around town.
- I dislike mushrooms. I think it’s a texture thing, but I’ve never super enjoyed them.
- I’m gluten free and have been for the past year plus.
- New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji have been bucket list places for me, and we are traveling this year, and I am SO excited.
- I have never been bungee jumping, and I’m not sure if I would want to go or not.
- I’m not a fan of moths or spiders. Shout out to Patrick for killing them for me.
- Walking aimlessly around a new city is a recipe for a perfect day for me.
- I will always pick being a passenger over driving. I’m always thrilled when I have friends that want to drive.
- I have a horrible sense of direction. As my one friend says, “Think of what you think is the correct direction and then do the opposite.” (This is not bad advice).
- I’m not a martini fan because of the olives/olive juice, but I’ll frequently channel my inner Sex and the City and order a cosmo.
- If I’m home, I’m usually burning a candle. I always have a stash of candles on hand.
- My real name is Elizabeth. Yes, Betsy can be short for Elizabeth. Yes, the name Elizabeth has an endless amount of nicknames. No, no one ever calls me by that name.
- I will eat pickles out of the jar, and I always have some in the fridge.
- I’m Irish by marriage, but people always think I look more Irish than my husband.
- Harry Potter over Twilight any day. Sorry, I’m not sorry.
- I schedule everything on a paper calendar.
- I own a printer and print off and organize all of our travel details before a trip. I’ll pack an actual folder for our itinerary.
- Bernie Sanders, Pink, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and I all share the same birthday (9/8).
- I’m not a great dancer and was placed in the back rows for any sorority dance routines (this was the correct choice).
- It’s a dream to live abroad at some point for a chunk of time. Don’t worry, we would never permanently leave Santa Barbara.
- Patrick and I quote Seinfeld lines all of the time. I watched all of the episodes in chronological order when we started dating.
- I get very excited about seeing a rainbow. Especially in Santa Barbara since we have so little rain.
- I love consignment shopping (I have a whole blog post about it). Some of my most prized possessions have been consignment finds!
- I’m obsessed with Taylor Swift. I think she is so talented and badass, and I could listen to her music all day.
- I’m a gold over silver person. Gold jewelry, household accents, etc.
- I drink sparkling water daily. It’s so refreshing.
- I still read paper books most of the time. I enjoy my Kindle too, but there’s something I will always appreciate about a physical book.
