I Don’t Know About You, But I’m Feeling 32

Yes, this is my take on a Taylor Swift song (but I had to add a casual decade to her lyrics). September has arrived, and with it comes my birthday month. We have a couple of fun trips, a wedding weekend, and lots of celebratory dinners and drinks happening this month. Since today is my actual birthday, you can bet that I’ll be celebrating and that the champagne will be popped and flowing. Last year, for my 31st birthday, I gave you 31 fun facts. I’ve decided to carry on the tradition and give you additional facts to get to know me better – 32, of course, to be exact.

I hope these facts give you more insight into who I am, and for those that know me well, maybe you’ll still learn a fun fact or two. Cheers to another year around the sun, and to many more years (and glasses of champagne). Thanks for helping me ring in the birthday, and sorry I’m not sorry for what I assume will be excessive celebrating ;).

  1. No matter how old I get, I’ll never stop getting a kids’ pack for my movie theater treat.
  2. Pepperoni and pineapple are my favorite pizza toppings.
  3. I have one tattoo on my left ribs.
  4. If I had to eat one cuisine forever, I would choose Mexican.
  5. I begin most mornings by sitting on the couch with a cat in my lap and a cup of coffee in my hand.
  6. I don’t know how to rollerblade.
  7. We don’t wear shoes in the house, but I wear slippers all of the time.
  8. I have a collection of fun socks (holiday, cat, ocean prints etc.).
  9. I had braces for 1.5 years in high school.
  10. Cody is my favorite Peloton instructor – I think he’s hilarious.
  11. Pickleball is my new favorite sport.
  12. If I’m outside, I’m wearing a hat. We get a lot of sun in CA and I want to protect my skin!
  13. Gilmore Girls was one of my favorite shows growing up.
  14. Our cat, Lucy, is named after Lucille Bluth from Arrested Development. Patrick named her.
  15. Crème brûlée is my favorite dessert.
  16. I enjoy people who have a dry sense of humor and who don’t take themselves too seriously.
  17. I haven’t eaten red meat in over 5 years.
  18. I chopped my hair after getting married, and now I think it’s the longest it’s ever been.
  19. “Ends of the Earth” by Lord Huron was our first dance song.
  20. My favorite Disney movie is The Lion King (runner ups would be The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast).
  21. The Wire is one of my favorite shows of all time.
  22. Red Rocks and the Santa Barbara Bowl are my two favorite places to attend a concert.
  23. I’m great at napping on planes, boats, trains, and in cars.
  24. I’ve never been seasick (knock on wood).
  25. Chips and salsa or cheese and crackers are my go-to snacks.
  26. Roses are my #1 flower.
  27. I’m team Backstreet Boys over *NSYNC.
  28. I like a margarita simply made, on the rocks, with salt.
  29. I love to sing in the car.
  30. I enjoy playing Scrabble and Yahtzee.
  31. I’m a fan of typical wedding music (“Twist and Shout” & “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” will always get me on the dance floor).
  32. During Semester at Sea, I traveled to these places: Hawaii, Japan, China, Vietnam, India, Mauritius, South Africa, Brazil, and Florida.

Kinda chic to be a cowgirl (sorry, I had to) 🤠 W Kinda chic to be a cowgirl (sorry, I had to) 🤠

What a beautiful visit to @visitsyv - dining at @nellakitchenbar, shopping at @wildflowerwomenboutique and @globaleyeshop, and an epic ride and wine tasting at @buttonwoodwinery 🍷

Buttonwood’s property is gorgeous. What a treat to ride through the vineyards and end with a crisp, chilled wine. Also, shout out to Willy - we’re buds now. 🐎

That barn too. Absolutely stunning. Do you love a visit to The Valley too? 🍇

NEW episode of The Bets Life Podcast with @wanderm NEW episode of The Bets Life Podcast with @wandermentfarms 🎙️

Episode 70: Growing a Better Future: Margo Redfern on Regenerative Farming & Reinvention 🌱

Is a return to regenerative farming the answer that we need for climate change? How are we able to learn from the past to help the future of farming? 🤔

On this podcast episode, I’m joined by Margo Redfern, founder of Wanderment Farms, a 56-acre regenerative farm in Santa Barbara County. After witnessing the devastating California wildfires and feeling called to make a difference, Margo and her husband left the Bay Area behind in search of land. They had one goal in mind: restore the land while helping to create a healthier future for generations to come. ☀️

Margo breaks down what regenerative farming actually means, why our soil and food nutrition are in crisis, and how simple shifts in the way we farm could have an enormous impact on helping our environment. We also talk about starting an entirely new chapter later in life, the challenges that farmers continue to face, and why “tuck-in time” is Margo’s favorite.🦙

Plus, we dive into all the farm animals (hint: there are never enough livestock guardian dogs), cheese making, farm-to-table dinners, and the surprising realities of modern farming. 👩‍🌾

Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, love learning about where your food comes from, or simply enjoy hearing inspiring stories of people creating meaningful change, this conversation is full of hope, education, and practical takeaways. 👏🏻
