Episode 67: On the Fence: An Honest Conversation About Being Childfree, Motherhood Indecision, and Life in Your Mid-Thirties

In this solo episode of The Bets Life Podcast, I’m discussing something that I’ve been personally struggling with for a long time: the indecision surrounding starting a family. What if you’re not sure if you want kids? What if you’ve never felt certain about being a mom? What if you feel like your fertility window is quickly shrinking? What if you’ve been waiting for that “aha” moment, but it hasn’t arrived?

This episode is all about being in the “messy middle” and being “on the fence.” Not fully in, not fully out. Just…trying to figure it out.

I share what it’s been like to be asked, “When are you having kids?” constantly, the fear of choosing the wrong path, and why more and more women are finding themselves in limbo over the motherhood decision.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, confused, or even a little guilty for not having a clear answer, then this episode is for you.

In this episode, I talk about:
• What it actually feels like to be a “fence sitter” about having kids
• The pressure I feel in my 30s to become a mom or make a decision either way
• Misconceptions about women who don’t have children
• The reality that both paths can be fulfilling and also challenging
• The fact that grief may come with any life path not taken

Dear Ladies, I’ve had so many women share with me Dear Ladies,

I’ve had so many women share with me that they loved this swimsuit shoot that I did. In person, messages, comments, etc. And yet when I respond encouragingly and tell them that they should do a shoot, they often say, “No, I could never.”

The reasons? Post-kids. Not their goal weight. Not fit enough. Too old now. Not confident enough. Not pretty enough.

Let me be real for a second. I did my boudoir shoot around my peak weight (of all time). I’ve done so many shoots period-bloated and feeling gross. My skin isn’t always clear. I don’t like it when my hair looks stringy. I’m not in my twenties anymore. I’m not the skinniest that I’ve ever been. I don’t like how my arms look sometimes. My melasma will flare during the summer months. Some days I’m less confident than others for sure.

What I’ve realized is that there is no “perfect time.” There’s always time to second-guess or put something off. There will always be reasons to pick yourself apart or to not feel your best. How cruel that we are so unkind to ourselves in the present moment, and then years later have much more perspective and compassion.

Stop waiting to be “perfect” or to have everything align. It won’t. You’ll just waste time and energy. Worst of all, you’ll miss out on opportunities and moments to appreciate yourself. To say, damnnnnnnnn, I look good in that photo. To think back a decade ago and realize how hard you were on yourself when you didn’t need to be. When you shouldn’t have been.

Take the photos. Wear the dress. Show off what makes you confident. Care less about what others think about you and more about what you think about yourself. Be unapologetically bold, all you saucy minxes.

🩷,
Bets

Have you tried Emsculpt before? It’s a treatment t Have you tried Emsculpt before? It’s a treatment that uses high-intensity electromagnetic energy for fat reduction and muscle improvement. 💪🏻

Think doing the work of 20,000 crunches or squats in 30 minutes. 🤯

I tried out the treatments on my lower stomach, but you can target other areas as well. You’ll feel the muscle contractions (comparable to cramps IMO). ⚡️

What a beautiful visit to @visitsyv - dining at @nellakitchenbar, shopping at @wildflowerwomenboutique and @globaleyeshop, and an epic ride and wine tasting at @buttonwoodwinery 🍷

Buttonwood’s property is gorgeous. What a treat to ride through the vineyards and end with a crisp, chilled wine. Also, shout out to Willy - we’re buds now. 🐎

That barn too. Absolutely stunning. Do you love a visit to The Valley too? 🍇

NEW episode of The Bets Life Podcast with @wanderm NEW episode of The Bets Life Podcast with @wandermentfarms 🎙️

Episode 70: Growing a Better Future: Margo Redfern on Regenerative Farming & Reinvention 🌱

Is a return to regenerative farming the answer that we need for climate change? How are we able to learn from the past to help the future of farming? 🤔

On this podcast episode, I’m joined by Margo Redfern, founder of Wanderment Farms, a 56-acre regenerative farm in Santa Barbara County. After witnessing the devastating California wildfires and feeling called to make a difference, Margo and her husband left the Bay Area behind in search of land. They had one goal in mind: restore the land while helping to create a healthier future for generations to come. ☀️

Margo breaks down what regenerative farming actually means, why our soil and food nutrition are in crisis, and how simple shifts in the way we farm could have an enormous impact on helping our environment. We also talk about starting an entirely new chapter later in life, the challenges that farmers continue to face, and why “tuck-in time” is Margo’s favorite.🦙

Plus, we dive into all the farm animals (hint: there are never enough livestock guardian dogs), cheese making, farm-to-table dinners, and the surprising realities of modern farming. 👩‍🌾

Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, love learning about where your food comes from, or simply enjoy hearing inspiring stories of people creating meaningful change, this conversation is full of hope, education, and practical takeaways. 👏🏻
