I always enjoy discovering companies that make great products, give back, and use sustainable practices. Living in Santa Barbara, I frequent the beach and pool often, and while we have the old, classic beach towels, I’ve recently discovered how much I like using Turkish towels as my new and improved option.
I like how these towels don’t take up as much space, are water absorbent, dry quickly, look cute, and are versatile – you can use it as a wrap, sarong, blanket, or even to dress up a table!
I love the Riviera Towel Company (RTC) which is a local Santa Barbara business that has a beautiful store downtown. They have an adorable shop where they showcase their products as well as other complimentary brands and items. Their Turkish towels are made from sustainable cotton, machine washable, and designed in Santa Barbara. RTC also donates 5% of their net profits to different marine agencies. They have 285 products (ranging from the classic towels to napkins to robes) and have given back $35,250. In the photos, I am wearing their Essential Turkish Towel in red and proceeds from my purchase went to support the Whale and Dolphin Conservation. I also purchased an adorable wrap (not made by RTC but sold in store) which I am wearing in these photos. The charming and colorful shop will make you want to start planning your next beach day ASAP!
Another company that I have known about for a while now is Sand Cloud. I was gifted one of their XL towels years ago, and I still use it all the time – recently I’ve brought it to many park and beach hangs. Along with Turkish towels, Sand Cloud makes a range of eco-friendly products like toothbrushes, water bottles, straws, clothing etc. Founded in San Diego, the company also gives back 10% of profits for marine conservation. Sustainability is a priority with everything that Sand Cloud makes and the company sells clothing made using organic cotton, reclaimed cotton, recycled plastic water bottles, and recycled rayon. I ordered the Santa Fe Green Towel and the Santa Fe Pillow Towel (this comes in a fold-up-tote-bag style with a pillow for extra comfort while beach lounging), but unfortunately they are sold out at the moment. I’m including other items at the end of the post that I like and that are in stock.
I’m not missing carrying around a bulky towel that takes forever to dry out. Plus, I’m thrilled that I’ll be able to travel with these products easily, and I love the versatility of using a Turkish towel at the beach during the day and as a wrap at night. I also appreciate that both companies care so much about sustainability and philanthropy – you can look good, feel good, and do good while simply bronzing at the beach or drying off after an ocean dip. With the 80-plus-degree weather this week here in Santa Barbara, you’ll definitely be able to find me at the beach – complete with a Turkish towel of course.
