I love skinny jeans, but I have to admit that earlier this year I was getting sick of wearing and buying them. I think they are a great look, but I was craving something a bit different when it came to denim. I was excited when I saw jeans coming out with a wider leg opening at the bottom or a straight leg – it’s nice to mix outfits and styles up a bit. I’m not giving up the high-rise fit though – sorry, ultra-low-rise Frankie B. jeans, I do not miss you.

Lately, flare jeans have arrived for their comeback and I am ready. I think there can be the hesitation to wear flares because people automatically associate them with a bohemian and/or ‘70s vibe. Personally, I like them as they elongate your legs, you can wear them with a chunky heel or ankle boot, and you can dress them up or down. Also, again, they deviate from the standard skinny jeans look, so they can bring a little extra spice to an outfit.

I’ve styled the same pair of flare jeans three ways here – all with a different silk cami tucked in and a different jacket. For a going-out look, I love a classic leather jacket and a fun print that pops (I’m a big fan of leopard if you can’t tell from these photos). For a more professional or formal look, pair a cardigan and a nice belt. You can’t go wrong with a duster for a casual or party-ready look too – I think it balances out the flares nicely and makes me look instantly taller. What do you think about flares being back? Can you dig it? 😉
